Welcome to the Realm of Red Wizardry!
With the recent upsets in the internet art sphere, I joined this site to spread my reach a little! I'm just an amateur/wannabe artist/writer (pick any combination of these, they pretty much all apply) and lurker.

Whatever!

Summer is upon us, and so is it turns out my birthday! This goof is a year older today. Do I have anything to show for it?

Regretfully since my last journal I haven't quite been been able to muster as much productivity since the last as I would have liked. After getting a few pieces finished and done for May, that momentum just couldn't carry over with the summer heat and other fixations stealing away my time. I was able to get several personal sketches done mostly for funsies, and a few of them I'd actually like to complete. One habit I need to start getting into is polishing them to a point I can share those too, but it's already hard enough to find pride for finished projects sometimes, let alone the ones I may or may not get back to putting all the right finishing touches on.

Comms have seen an uptick though, as you might have noticed. Apologies for all the cake spam - now that Cake Day is upon us I've more or less used up my stash of more of those however, so expect a return to some diversity next time!

And that about does it - not much to report this month, so everybody have a good one while I go indulge in party-isms- til next time.

With the end of May, we're heading into summer! The end of June will actually be bringing my birthday along, so I definitely wanna try to do a thing or two for that. Plus there still remain some trade obligations I want to try and knock out. One of these days I'll figure out how I'd like to post a couple of complete (or nearly complete) stories, too, as that's a corner of my gallery I definitely wish to pad out more.

May, it turns out, was one of my most productive months in a while! Maybe it's the warming spring weather, maybe it was the abundance of themes to choose from, but I managed to get out a few refs and pictures of my own that I'd tabled for a while. I still have a Mermay piece I want to finish up and post for the last TFTuesday of the month, so expect that in some form or another. TransforMAYtion over on Twitter caught my eye sometime back too, but unfortunately a theme a day was a bit demanding for me to keep up with. Still, I sketched out a few random things, so maybe I'll just post those incomplete ones to see the month out.

Beyond that, I do feel I didn't post comms to each theme as much as I could. I mean, Macro/Micro May completely passed me by! Mayternity could have been rich for TG content! But, alas, I do have at least a few to share before the month is out.

So, here's hoping the warm summer weather ends up being inspiring - til next time.

Another month, another update.

So! Opened April strongly enough. Coming off the heels of being sick in March, I found myself having slightly more productivity in this one when regular work wasn't draining it. Mainly my focus remained on completing some long-needed references, both finishing and fixing, that will end up in the gallery at some point.

Transfiguration wise, I got a few projects finished, though maybe not as many as I would have liked. After that snack batch near the middle of the month, I hoped to move away from using my own OCs and do some friends or canons for a bit, so going into may, Mermay or Mayternity events might be a good time to try some of those.

Not much else on my smooth brain right now - so, til next time!

With the end of March fast approaching, seemed time for another check in! Unfortunately, after a strong start in the beginning of the month, I unfortunately ended up getting pretty sick in the middle of the month which wound up carrying through most of it. So pleased as I was with that early momentum and productivity, it kind of got torpedoed by that.

Now that I'm over the hill on that, my April plan is to get back in the saddle again. I've got more than a few sketched (and even some further developed) pieces that I'm hoping to continue on and tie up with a neat bow heading forward, so look forward to some of those hopefully getting done. Plus with #MarchNeedsMoms winding down I should be free to post comms for whatever the mood each week is regardless, so you can expect a little more variety there too!

..And that's pretty much it, short and sweet this month - til next time!

Now, to business!

So, been a while since I wrote up one of these reviews! Now that February and, by extension, winter are soon coming to an end, I want to try and harness the close of that cold weather funk and start getting productive again. Originally my plan was for Feb. to serve as that rebound month, but due to some offline factors that simply wound up not being the case.

The long break hasn't been super kind - despite the rest, I haven't quite felt as motivated as I hoped to get back into writing and art as I was before, which is why I feel going into March I need to set some sort of goal of myself. I do have a piece I'm finishing up for today, the last TFTuesday of the month as of this writing, but past that I want to try getting back to a weekly or bi-weekly schedule of completing personal pieces again - in addition to continuing to share collected comms from over time.

So, yeah! That's where things stand now, and my aims for turning them around. As always, time will have to tell how that works out.

Cheeky title, right? I thought it was clever anyway, and works nicely as a title for regular posts like these to give an air of professionalism, or the impression that I know what I'm doing.

But anyways, on to business!

Firstly, I should start of course by thanking you all for your support over the past year. Posting with such consistency has been pretty new territory me, so I'm pleased to have found a bit of an audience interested in what I have to put out! Looking to the next one, I hope I can stay apace and keep you entertained, so here's hoping for a good New Year!

For anyone interested, I've set up a few new pages in response to the fluctuating state of the blue bird website, each of which are just about all caught up on the backlog. I also made a handy Linktree to bind them all together, so recommend if you have a presence on any other sites to give them a look over down below. New profiles include ones at PillowFort, Itaku, Newgrounds, and Weasyl, so we'll see if I introduce any more to the mix later.

2022 was a long one - with a just few bumps along the way, I was just able to complete my self-imposed challenge of weekly drawings! Even if I had to shuffle or delay a few themes, I still balanced things a bit by making some sequences and stories that were longer than the one offs which should even things out a bit.

Growth wise, DA seems to have become the big one, with FA and Twitter climbing a bit more slowly. Tumblr's been getting some steam to it, too. Originally I thought if we reached any milestones, some kind of raffle would be fun to try. For now however I think it's better to continue catch-up and warming up trying to improve more first, as despite having a few pics I'm honestly pretty proud of, there's still quite a bit I wish or feel I could do better on. Generally I still want to improve my technique and time spent on everything.

That being said, despite my simple, limited art style I still spend quite a while on each piece I make, so looking into January I first think I'm due for a bit of a rest. I have a pretty ample gallery by now, and feel that can afford me a bit of inconsistency with how often I post for the time being. Plus I've got a lot of comms in the backlog I can put up, so I'll spend a little while parsing through those.

I also want focus on wrapping up a few outstanding collabs I've left lie for too long, as well as some personal art outside the confines of specific weekly 'themes' - I'm still interested in continuing to make plenty of transformative material (and more!), but can be a little easier to conceive ideas and get different things done without being confined by anything specific, or the crunch time that comes with it every Tuesday.

And so I think that's it! Thank you again for your support and patience, and here's hoping 2023 is as productive as the last one.
